The Aesthetic Lounge Difference
Efficacy. A thorough consultation and test patch, in our Melbourne Laser Clinic are mandatory to ensure visible results with minimal treatments. By testing the tolerance of your skin and tattoo colour to the energy delivered, ensures that our tattoo removal specialist can begin your treatments with safe settings to successfully remove your tattoo.
Minimal Discomfort. Our qualified and highly trained Cosmetic Dermal Therapists care about your comfort. Cryogenically chilled air supercools the skin and takes out the sting. No messy ice packs or having to wait for topical anaesthetic to work.
Multi-Coloured Laser Tattoo Removal. Our RevLite® LASER utilises Q-Switched technology along with Dye handpieces to offer four wavelengths to safely remove coloured tattoos, unlike many other lasers that can only treat black, blue and dark coloured tattoos.
Who said tattoos are forever? Virtually all tattoos can be removed in our Melbourne laser clinic. Both amateur and professional tattoos can be removed with Laser, however, professional tattoos require more treatments to achieve similar results. All colours can be removed, however some may be difficult and require more tattoo removal laser treatments and have a lower chance of complete removal. See below for our tattoo removal cost.

Traumatic tattoos and those caused by dirt or debris being embedded in the skin, e.g after motorbike accidents, can also be removed with our Q Switched Laser, just like tattoo removal.
Radiation Therapy Target Dot
FREE | allow 15 minutes
Tattoo removal for breast cancer patients. We will happily remove target dot tattoos at no cost for men and women who have had breast cancer. Breast cancer treatment that includes radiation therapy, requires a small dot to be tattooed at the location where the radiation therapy is administered. The target dot tattoo is a permanent tattoo and can be an unwanted reminder of the experience. Fortunately these tattoos are superficial resulting in complete removal in 1-2 treatments with our Q Switched Laser, at 6 weeks apart.
Cryo jet cooling ensures minimal skin reaction and no pain, however topical anaesthetic is available:
- Topical Anaesthetic A5 size | $35

The Aesthetic Lounge is currently only one of a handful of advanced skin and laser clinics that offer Laser treatments in Melbourne with the RevLite Laser for tattoo removal, a model above the Medlite C6.
The Q-Switched Nd:YAG laser works at effectively removing unwanted tattoos by delivering specific deep wavelengths of light at ultra-fast repetition rates to the target area, via acoustic energy. Once this light enters the deeper layers of the skin, it penetrates and breaks down the colour of the ink in the tattoo. These shattered tiny particles of ink are then able to be absorbed by the body and eliminated by the immune system through natural processes. Ordinarily, the pigment particles within the tattoo are too large for the body's immune system to remove, therefore making it permanent. By shattering them into smaller particles with Q-switched laser, the body is able to remove them.
Please note that only a Q-Switched Laser or Pico Laser should be used for laser tattoo removal and NO other LASER or IPL.
To completely remove the tattoo, on average an amateur tattoo may only need 4 to 5 treatments, while a professional tattoo will generally require between 11 to 14 treatments.
Tattoo fading for coverup require less treatments, around 4 to 7 treatments.
Before the laser treatment, if needed, topical numbing cream is applied to the area and is left on for 30 to 45 minutes. Alternatively you can purchase the numbing cream and apply it yourself before coming in for the treatment.
The actual laser treatment time is dependent on the size of the tattoo to be removed and the varying colours, for example a black tattoo the size of a business card will take about 10 seconds to treat, whereas a multi-coloured tattoo the same size can take up to 10 minutes to treat. The larger the tattoo and the more colours present in the tattoo, the longer it will take, please allow anywhere between 15 to 45 minutes.
Although Q-Switched laser treatments require several sessions to successfully remove or fade a tattoo, they have the greatest chance of returning your skin to its previous state in comparison to the other methods of tattoo removal.
Normally greater than 95% fading of a tattoo can be accomplished. It is however difficult to give an exact number of treatments a tattoo will need before achieving the desired level or removal.
Many factors such as the type of ink used, age of tattoo, ink colours used, existing scarring, body area and how deep the ink was applied into the skin, all contribute to how well the ink responds. Upon consultation we will use the Kirby-Desai Scale to assess the total number of sessions needed for complete removal.
Clinical trials have shown the greatest clearance with Laser tattoo removal sessions being spaced a minimum of 8 to 12 weeks apart. This allows for the body’s immune system to pick up and remove the smaller particles of ink and also allow time for the skin to heal.
As only 4 to 6 treatments are performed per year this makes Laser tattoo removal very affordable.
During your Laser Tattoo Removal treatment:
- A quick and painless test patch is performed to monitor skin suitability
- Treatment area is swabbed
- Cryo Jet super cools the skin before, during and after treatment
- Laser is pulsed methodically over the tattoo, this feels like the snapping of elastic bands on the skin, as the session time is short (between 2-10 minutes) it is tolerable
- The area is dressed with an antiseptic cream and a clear plastic covering will be applied if it's on a body area
After each tattoo removal treatment the following steps should be taken to minimise complications and aid in recovery for 1 to 3 weeks or until the area is healed:
- Keep the area clean
- Do not scrub in the shower
- Avoid sun exposure, swimming pools and the ocean
- Apply a thin layer of antiseptic cream daily until the area is healed
- If a scab forms it is imperative that you do not pick it
At The Aesthetic Lounge, we offer complimentary reviews, so please take advantage at any stage of the healing process and come into the clinic so that we can assess the area, re-dress and answer any questions you might have. It is important that you feel at ease and comfortable throughout the whole tattoo removal procedure.
Most clients can have Laser Tattoo Removal.
Like any other laser treatment, people that are not suitable are; epileptic, pregnant women, clients undergoing cancer treatment, autoimmune disease, recent tattoo
Lactating women can have Laser Tattoo Removal, without the topical anaesthetic cream.
Don’t trust your skin with cheap tattoo removal in Melbourne! When choosing a cosmetic treatment - always look for someone who is experienced with relevant training and a successful reputation. Do not base decisions regarding laser treatments, solely on price, as a poorly performed treatment will cost you more in the long run. At best you will experience little to no results and worst case you may end up with permanent scarring. Laser treatments are serious and need to be treated as such. All our machines have been TGA and FDA approved and only qualified Cosmetic Dermal Therapists operate this equipment.
