FAQ’s
- How Much Does Alkaline Hair Removal Cost?
-
As our prices displayed on our website and through our online booking system are a guide only, upon consultation, your therapist will provide you with an accurate price for each hair removal treatment.
- Do I Need A Hair Removal Consultation Before My First Treatment?
-
Yes, absolutely. Everyone’s unwanted hair and skin are unique to only them, because of this, we always consult with you before starting treatments to ensure we can give you the safest treatments and quickest results.
- How Do I Prepare My Skin To Achieve The Best Results For Permanent Hair Reduction?
-
We understand that other clinics may treat your hair when your skin is simply not ready, but we aren’t just another skin clinic.
Preparation and consistency are the keys to achieving long-lasting, rapid results. For optimum hair reduction, we recommended a series of treatments in conjunction with a specific skincare routine. During your hair removal program, your therapist may recommend and introduce a combination of Waxing, Electrolysis, IPL and /or Laser hair removal treatments to gain maximum hair reduction, quickly.
- Do I Need To Shave My Hairs Before Alkaline Hair Reduction Treatments?
-
Unlike other hair removal systems, we do not require you to shave the hair before treatment. Ideal hair length is around 2-3mm above the skin’s surface. It is important to note that if you shave the area, it is essential to wait 36 hours before treatment can be performed, as shaving is exfoliating and will increase the strength of the Alkaline wash and may result in unwanted complications.
- Can I Have Alkaline Hair Removal?
-
Our alkaline wash is only suitable for fairer skin types, Fitzpatrick I-III. Due to a higher risk of skin pigmentation, darker skin types that are not suitable for Alkaline wash, may include Indian, Asian, Mediteranean and Sudanese. Your suitability and compliance to the treatment will be discussed during your Hair Removal Consultation.
Alkaline hair reduction may not be suitable while; pregnant, breastfeeding, healing disorders, impared or inflamed skin barrier, psoriasis, dermatitis, sensitive skin, active cold sores, open lesions, cuts and abrasion, recent sun exposure, cancer patients undergoing treatment and some autoimmune diseases that affect the skin barrier and healing.
- How Will I Look Immediately After Alkaline Hair Removal?
-
It is normal to experience some mild redness and/or dryness following the treatment.
You may even experience some superficial scabs, although this is when the hair is very coarse and the alkaline wash needs to remain on the skin for longer. As long as you do not scratch or pick the scabs, they should heal given normal conditions. As with any product applied topically, there may be small percentages of people in the population that may experience an adverse reaction.
- When Can I Have My Next Alkaline Hair Removal Treatment?
-
Treatment intervals depend on the condition of the area treated. We recommend treatments at 6 week intervals. If combined with electrolysis, Laser or IPL for stronger hairs, your therapist will adjust your treatment intervals to work most effectively with your skin.
- How Many Treatments Will I Need For Alkaline Hair Removal?
-
Every individual will need to be assessed and advised on their particular treatment program. It is impossible to estimate how many treatments are required as hair removal is dependent upon numerous factors, for example: previous treatments, how long the hair has been present, causes and hormonal influence such as; PCOS, hirsutism, menopause and male clients.
Some clients report a reduction in hair growth after the first treatment. However, some clients may need more treatments to achieve an adequate permanent reduction and desirable result.
- Do I Need A Test Patch?
-
Test patches are generally not required for Alkaline wash, as the skin is thoroughly prepared before the Alkaline treatment to ensure safety. However, if you are concerned about an adverse reaction, please request a test patch. If a test patch is required, this will be provided during your consultation or prior to your first treatment at no extra charge. Sometimes if it has been longer than 6 months or you have been exposed to the sun or had any recent medical changes, you will be required to re-test patch for an additional fee.
