The Cause Of Oily Skin And Open Pores
Firstly there are so many myths surrounding the causes of oily skin and how to best treat it. What came first; the oily skin or the open pores? It all starts deep in the pores, where your oil glands lie.
Genetics and hormones are the main culprit for excessive oil flow, which is why it’s commonly seen amongst family members and is more prevalent through adolescent years. Environmental, lifestyle and skincare products are not the cause of oil flow, but they definitely can exacerbate oily prone skin. Warm weather, exercise and products that strip oil from the skin all lead to an increase in oil flow.
Oily skin does however, require extra care and maintenance. When oil cannot flow freely from the pores it becomes stagnant and builds up, stretching the small opening, resulting in enlarged pores.
