The Aesthetic Lounge Difference
At The Aesthetic Lounge we do things differently, because we understand one crucial foundation of achieving results; if you fail to prepare – be prepared to fail.
To us, skin preparation is the most important step to rapidly achieve your skin goals. Our results are testament to this. Strengthening your skin with the right prescribed skincare and Advanced Treatments, will ensure it reaches its maximum potential and visibly transform into the skin you’ve always dreamt of.
What Is IPL Colour Correction?
A non-invasive approach to removing face, neck and decolletage skin discolourations, our Laser powered IPL will deliver visible results within one treatment. Unlike generic IPL systems, our treatments deliver a dual wavelength to rejuvenate sun damaged skin whilst, simultaneously activating anti ageing cells. IPL rapidly fades surface pigment and facial flushing such as freckles and Rosacea whilst also targeting deep pigment and vessels from stubborn sun spots to large purple facial veins.

FAQ’s
- How Do I Prepare My Skin To Achieve The Best Results?
-
Preparation and consistency are the keys to a visible skin transformation. Your therapist will create a skin journey, which will include the consistent use of our prescribed skincare and in-clinic treatments prior to your first IPL appointment. This will ensure you get the most out of every treatment, for your best skin ever. Download your Skin Preparation Guide here.
- Do I Need A Skin Check?
-
At The Aesthetic Lounge your skin’s safety is our highest priority and why we always recommend you have a skin check every 12 months. This is for you to stay up-to-date with any skin changes you may have had and to allow for safe treatments.
However if this is your first visit to the clinic, you must provide a current skin check clearance letter, our clients recommend Mole Map Brighton.
- Do I Need A Test Patch?
-
Test patches allow our therapists to test the maximum and safe settings which means you will achieve your end result much quicker and more effectively. If a test patch is required, this will be provided during your consultation or prior to your first treatment at no extra charge.
Sometimes if it has been longer than 6 months or you have been exposed to the sun or had any recent medical changes you will be required to re test patch for an additional fee.
- Who Cannot Have IPL Colour Correction?
-
The following contraindications include: epilepsy, pregnancy, healing disorders, darker skin types (Fitz IV+ ie Mediteranean, Indian, African), some photosensitising medications and sun tanned skin or recent fake tan application.
- What Types of Scarring Can Be Treated With IPL Colour Correction?
-
We can effectively fade red and brown discoloured scars on most face and body areas to improve your skin’s texture and promote healing with our proven IPL treatments. - Can I Have Other Treatments To Supercharge My Results?
-
Absolutely, we love supercharging your results and have found the best way to achieve this, is with our add-on treatments:
- With three therapeutic wavelengths, our LED Light Therapy; kills bacteria, increases healing and stimulates age defying cells
- A Cold Therapy Mask soothes and calms red inflamed skin
- Extractions and High Frequency clear away problematic congestion
- Our clients also love adding their neck, decolletage or back of hands to each treatment to maximise results with the benefit of added value
IPL can also be alternated with other complimenting treatments:
- Achieve a youthful complexion with Dermal Stamping
- Target problematic skin with our Extraction Facial
- Dramatically fade sun damage with Microdermabrasion and Skin Peels
- How Will My Skin Benefit From IPL Colour Correction?
-
IPL Colour Correction will promote improved hydration, texture, tone and soften fine lines, pigmentation, facial redness and discoloured scars. Results may be seen after the first session, however for best results, a series of 3 to 6 treatments are recommended.
- How Much Downtime Can I Expect After An IPL?
-
Downtime can be minimised with your pre and post treatment skin care products (please note body area recovery times will triple). Skin that is not sufficiently prepared will experience increased downtime, sensitivity, complications and slower results.
Day 1-2 | Skin sensitivity may include: redness, swelling, heat, stinging, tight or dry, your pigment may temporarily darken.
Day 3-5 | Your skin may become: itchy, dry and swollen. Micro crusting and mild skin exfoliation will develop.
Day 7-10 | Large blue, purple facial blood vessels that have bruised (not common) will fade and resolve.
- How Often Can I Have IPL Colour Correction?
-
Depending on your skin’s condition and concerns, an IPL treatment that targets facial flushing, redness or Rosacea, treatments are best performed, strictly 1-2 weeks apart. For brown and pigmented discolourations treatments are best performed at 3 to 4 weeks.

- What Will IPL Colour Correction Feel Like?
-
During your IPL treatment you will feel a rapid flick to the spot being treated followed by a mild warming sensation. Unlike other IPL systems, our integrated chilled tip alleviates sensation and reduces side effects.
Due to the treatment being an intense light based therapy, you may notice the pulses flashing although your eyes will be protected with treatment goggles.
- Why Would I Have Diathermy Treatment Instead Of IPL?
-
Our IPL Colour Correction treatments are the favourable option for facial veins, as it’s a non invasive treatment with quick recovery time. However, if a vessel is in a difficult to reach area e.g. the inner eye or for stubborn persistent facial vessels, diathermy is an effective alternative.
Red vein diathermy is an effective treatment for facial veins, spider naevi and cherry angiomas. A fine probe produces heat through an electric current that causes facial vessels to seal.
