FAQ’s
- How Do I Prepare My Skin To Achieve The Best Results?
-
Preparation and consistency are the keys to a visible skin transformation. Your therapist will create a skin journey, which will include the consistent use of our prescribed skincare and in-clinic treatments prior to your first IPL appointment. This will ensure you get the most out of every treatment, for your best skin ever. Download your Skin Preparation Guide here.
- Do I Really Need To Prepare My Skin For IPL?
-
Absolutely. We understand that other clinics may treat your skin, when it’s simply not ready, but we aren’t just another skin clinic. We believe in achieving amazing, long lasting results and this can only be successfully achieved through skin preparation. Download “The 5 Steps To Achieving Your Best Skin Ever” here.
- Do I Need A Skin Check?
-
At The Aesthetic Lounge your skin’s safety is our highest priority and why we always recommend you have a skin check every 12 months. This is for you to stay up-to-date with any skin changes you may have had and to allow for safe treatments.
However if this is your first visit to the clinic, you must provide a current skin check clearance letter, our clients recommend Mole Map Brighton.
- Do I Need A Test Patch?
-
Test patches allow our therapists to test the maximum and safe settings which means you will achieve your end result much quicker and more effectively. If a test patch is required, this will be provided during your consultation or prior to your first treatment at no extra charge.
Sometimes if it has been longer than 6 months or you have been exposed to the sun or had any recent medical changes you will be required to re test patch for an additional fee.
- Can I Have Other Treatments To Supercharge My Results?
-
Absolutely, we love supercharging your results and have found the best way to achieve this, is by alternating your treatments with our three customisable Body Facials:
- A Detox Facial for body areas has been specifically designed to combat stubborn body acne, breakouts, congestion and blackheads. A great way to prepare your skin prior to your IPL treatment and throughout your course of treatments.
- A Skin Support Facial for body areas to calm dry, irritated skin and help to heal skin after your IPL treatment.
- Our Hydrating Antioxidant Peel for body areas to smooth, hydrate and exfoliate lumpy, bumpy and rough skin. An amazing treatment both prior to and after your IPL.
You can also add an LED Treatment to your IPL. With three therapeutic wavelengths, our LED Light Therapy kills bacteria, increases healing and stimulates age defying cells.
- How Will My Skin Benefit From Sun Damage Body Treatments?
-
A series of our Sun Damage Treatments for the body will rapidly correct skin hydration, texture, tone, fine lines, pigmentation and discoloured scars. Results are seen immediately and will continue to visibly improve for up to 6 months post treatment, however for best results, a series of 3 treatments are strongly recommended.
- How Much Downtime Can I Expect?
-
Downtime from our Sun Damage Body Treatments may be prolonged due to the body area taking longer to recover than facial areas. This can be minimised with your pre and post treatment skincare products, as skin that is not sufficiently prepared will experience increased downtime, sensitivity, slower results and possible complications. Please note side effects are dramatically less noticeable with subsequent treatments:
Week 1 | Skin sensitivity may include: redness, swelling, heat, stinging, tight or dry, your pigment may temporarily darken and hair reduction.
Week 2-4 | Your skin may become: itchy and dry with micro crusting and mild skin exfoliation.
My skin is no longer sensitive | If your skin is looking and feeling back to normal and all pigmented crusts are gone, it’s now time to return to your regular skincare routine.
- How Often Can I Have Sun Damage Body Treatments?
-
Once your skin is sufficiently prepared with our prescribed skincare and Body Facials, a series of Violet Light treatments can be performed no sooner than 4 to 8 weeks apart. Depending on your skin’s condition and concerns treatment intervals may be longer.
- How Do I Maintain My Results?
-
Slip, slop, slap, prevention is key to maintaining your new youthful skin. Once you have achieved your skin goals, a monthly Body Facial along with your prescribed skincare products will not only help to maintain your achieved results but further improve them. Discover which of our Skin Membership programs will rapidly transform your skin.
- Who Cannot Have Sun Damage Body Treatments?
-
The following contraindications include: epilepsy, pregnancy, healing disorders, darker skin types (Fitz IV+ ie Mediteranean, Indian, African and tanned Asian), some photosensitising medications and sun tanned skin or recent fake tan application.
- How Many Areas Can I Have Treated Each Time?
-
As body areas require a large surface area to be treated, we strictly limit the size of each treatment to avoid overloading your immune system and prolonging recovery. For this reason, we recommend treating the Neck and Chest, Full Arms, Upper Back or Half Legs as stand alone treatments. If you would like multiple areas treated, a program will be customised upon consultation.
- How Will My IPL Sun Damage Treatment Feel?
-
You will experience a localised elastic band type flick to the spot being treated and a mild warming sensation. The chilled tip of the IPL alleviates the heating sensation from the treatment for a comfortable experience.
